Why is dealing with domain names is sometimes overwhelming? Probably because the entire process is cryptic and explained in techno-babble. Simply put, from the time that the Internet started, websites have used address so people can find them. Many end in .com like Amazon.com or Labnet.com.

Others have endings like .org, .net. There are newer endings which work perfectly fine, like .biz, .bz, .name and .tv

You can buy a domain name from many different companies. Once purchased, you are able to use it on your website as your own address. Originally, the group that handled domain names was an organization called the Internic. The Internic has grown and altered over time, but today that is a company called Verisign / Network Solutions.

We suggest to our customers to get their domain names from Verisign. They know their business and any webhost will know how to use them when it comes time to setup your website's domain name service. Other companies sell them for less, but also tend to be fly-by-night.
